Herrin- CATHERINE KAY G. WILLIAMS, age 88, of Herrin, passed away at 6:40am on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at her home in Herrin.
Kay was born in Johnston City on July 14, 1922, the daughter of William Henry and Edna Mae (Evilsizer) Borchelt. She married Richard Krantz and he preceded her in death in 1949. On November 28, 1957, she married Vertus Carlyle Williams in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death in June 4, 2009.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Church of God in Herrin. She retired from Maytag after thirty-two years of service. Kay enjoyed camping, traveling to Florida and spending time with family and good friends. She was the past commander of the Marion VFW Womans Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son- William Bill and Debbie Krantz of Herrin
Granddaughter- Melanie Krantz of Herrin
Sister- Gloria and Odes Hopkins
Step-Daughter- Malinda Childers
Special Niece- Marcia Chew
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, granddaughter- Teresa Krantz, and six brothers- Carol, Virgil, Henry, Harry, Hiram, and Fariel Borchelt.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Dr Jeffrey Parks, and Kays surrounding neighbors for all their love and support during this time.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 10am-noon on Monday at the funeral home.
