Herrin- Catherine Klingelsmith, 91, of Herrin, died at 11:40 PM, Friday, December 21, 2001 at Park Avenue Health Care Center in Herrin. Catherine was born on December 18, 1910 in East St. Louis, IL, to Peter & Victoria (Vojcik) Marek. She married Joseph Eli Klingelsmith on June 6, 1934 at St. Adalbert's Parrish in E. St. Louis, IL. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1985. Mrs. Klingelsmith retired as assistant office manager, in the engineering department, of Armour & Co. at the National Stockyards located in National City, IL. Catherine was of Catholic Faith and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church of Herrin. She was a member of the Daughter's of Isabella and was an active member of the Herrin Senior Citizens. When she was able, Catherine enjoyed playing pinochle and poker with her sisters, and fishing for crappie with her family at Carlyle Lake. SURVIVORS: Son & dtr in law- Richard J. & Stephanie Klingelsmith- Herrin Four Grandchildren & their spouses: Mary Catherine & husband Michael Zonsius- Rockford Joseph S. & Kathleen Klingelsmith- Sugar Loaf, NY Julia A. & Bruce Sohn- Albuquerque, NM Lisa M. & Justin Miller- Dallas, TX Four Great Grandchildren: Ashley & Spencer Sohn- Albuquerque Michael & Peter J. Zonsius, Jr.- Rockford Many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and cousins Her parents, husband, four brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 27, 2001 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial and committal services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday at St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Fairview Heights, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of procession, Thursday, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the OLMC Church Education Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
