Cathryn Marie Ferketich

Cathryn Marie (Calliss) Ferketich, age 69, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 6:40pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Herrin Hospital.

Cathryn was born December 20, 1952 in Metropolis, Illinois, a daughter of William and Agnes (Harris) Calliss. She married the love of her life, James R. Ferketich on February 22, 1992 in Herrin. Together they shared more than 30 years of marriage.

Cathy taught in the Herrin School District for 35 years. She also was a member of the Hurrican Memorial Baptist Church and served as the pianist for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband- James R. Ferketich of Herrin, IL; brother- William and Phyllis Calliss of Avon, IN, sister-in-law- Ruth Ann Calliss of Herrin, sister-in-law- Brenda Calliss of Swansea, IL; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes (Harris) Calliss; two brothers, Otis Calliss and Dennis Calliss; and her niece, Michele Schneider.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 9th, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, 12:30 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Faulkenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.
