Herrin- Cecilia G. “Jerry” Maulding, 81, of Herrin, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:25 AM, Monday, March 25, 2013 at her home in Herrin.
Jerry was born on November 17, 1931 in Williamson County to Lloyd and Anna (Jurgaitis) Penland.
She worked many years as an accountant for Southern Illinois University in Carbondale before retirement in 1998. Before that, she worked several years as a census taker for the US Census Bureau, taught for a brief period at Vergennes and volunteered her time at the YMCA.
She enjoyed working outside and tending to her yard as well as spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and had a keen sense of humor. She was former president of the SIU Civil Service Bargaining Organization.

Son- Earl Maulding of Hollywood, FL
Daughter- Anita Thomason and husband Keith of Benton
Son- Dale Maulding and Wife Lisa of Atlanta, GA
Son- Gerald Maulding and wife Erin of Atlanta, GA
Daughter- Wendy McCluskie and husband Devin of Herrin
Thirteen Grandchildren:

Henry Cardwell V and fiancée Kelsey Schlueter of St. Louis, MO

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother- Lloyd Penland.
The family considers it a privilege to have had Jerry as their mother. She will be greatly missed but she will always be a part of them. It was her wish to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held Friday, March 29, 2013. Memorial arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
