Charlene Handkins

Marion Charlene Handkins, 68, died Tuesday, April 05, 2005 at 11:55 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Charlene was born June 12, 1936 to Charles Everett and Lorene (Beasley) Darnell in Creal Springs. She married Carl Ray Handkins on October 01, 1954 in Williamson County and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1991. Charlene attended Lone Oak Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She graduated from SIU School of Nursing. She was retired, having managed Motel 6 in Bloomington. She also worked as a LPN and a Nursing Home Administrator. Charlene enjoyed playing Bingo at the Marion VFW and Knights of Columbus. Charlene is survived by: Three Daughters: Cindy Schovil-Pemberton & husband Denny of Washington, IL Cheryl White & husband Don of Springbay, IL Carla Ginn of Marion Six Grandchildren: Amanda, Stephanie, Shaun, Tanya, Scott & Christian Special friend Janice Franklin of Marion Preceded by: Parents, Husband, infant brother and son-in-law Steven Ginn A Memorial service will be Friday, April 08, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. She will buried next to her husband at a later date in Arizona. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Lone Oak Baptist Church.
