Charles “Chuck” Coleman, age 53, of Herrin, passed away at approximately 11:30pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital due to underlying health issues.
Charles was born in Chester on April 5, 1967, the son of Charles “Coley” and Donna (Prather) Coleman. He graduated from Marion High School in 1985. He married Jemmia Clendenin in Paducah, Kentucky on May 20, 1998. She survives.
Chuck was a professional flat track racer. He worked at Ron Ward Chevrolet in Herrin for over twenty years. He later worked at Olmsted Lock and Dam for the Local 318. Chuck spent every Saturday during the summer watching the mini sprint car races at the Southern Illinois Raceway.

Niece- Lindsey Coleman of Johnston City

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Melissa Coleman, and brother- Hazen Coleman.
Chuck’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
