Charles D. Verga

Chester- CHARLES DAN VERGA,SR, age 87, of Chester, formerly of Herrin, went to be with his Lord at 4:55am on Monday September 19, 2005 at the St Annes Health Care Center in Chester, IL. Charles was born December 3, 1917 in Herrin to Mary (Ruffino) and Joseph Verga. He married Anita Ethel Hopper in Cape Girardeau, MO on February 7, 1940. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1996. Mr. Verga was retired from the tool and dye department at General Radiator, Inc in Mt Vernon, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the European Theater. Survivors include- Daughter and Son-In-Law- Linda and Bill Gray- Chester, IL Son and Daughter-In-Law- Dan and Karen Verga- Collierville, TN Daughter- Charlotte Verga- Evansville, IN 7 grandchildren- Lee & Kerri Webb- Marion, IL Richard and Lisa Sexton- Herrin, IL Debra and Allan Stilley- Gibson City, IL Danita Webb- Evansville, IN Daniel and Jamie Webb- Newburgh, IN Jason Verga- Iraq Doug Verga- Memphis, TN 11 great grandchildren 1 sister- Kathryn Neilson- Marion, IL Preceded in death by- His parents, his loving wife, and one great granddaughter-Kristy Sexton-Halley Funeral services for Charles will be held at 11:00am on Thursday September 22, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Bill Hopper officiating. He will be buried next to his wife at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Wednesday September 21, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
