CHARLES DONALD SARTIN
Lake of Egypt Charles Donald Sartin, 70, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 10:40 P.M. in the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Charles was born October 06, 1932 to Roy and Pauline (Brimm) Sartin in Woodlawn, Illinois. He married Joyce (Mullinax) Sartin on February 20, 1954 in Mt. Vernon and she survives.
Charles was a retired crane operator at Granite City Steel. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Goreville. Charles was a veteran of the Korean War and was twice awarded the Bronze Star, also received the Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, and a life member VFW Post #1301.
Charles was an avid Cubs fan, avid Marion Wildcat baseball fan, and was honorary letterman of the class of 96 baseball.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 2:00 P.M at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Mullinax and Jack Mullinax officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery with graveside military rites by V.F.W. Post #1301. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
