Charles E. Hodge

Charles Eugene Hodge, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 11:30 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Charles was born June 6, 1925 in Goreville the son of Everett Leo & Ivah Kathleen (Lowery) Hodge. He married Audrey Ellen Snow on December 26, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and together they shared over 53 years of marriage until she preceded him in death on January 22, 1996. He was a Navy veteran, proudly answering the call to serve his nation during WWII. Charles was of the Baptist Faith and he retired from John A. Logan College, Maintenance Department. Survivors include; Two Daughters; Carla Sweetin of Marion Gayla Beaver and husband Ralph of Marion Two Sons; Darrel Hodge and wife Lisa of Marion Charles Gene Hodge of Marion Ten Grandchildren; James Sweetin, Daniel Sweetin, Johanna Alderman, Jason Hodge, Kristy Jeffords, Laura Christopher, Joshua Beaver, Jeremieh Hodge, Heather Hodge, Halley Spann Fourteen Great Grandchildren; Joshua and Daniel Alderman, Sarah Alderman, Rachel Alderman, Olivia Sweetin, Aniecia Sweetin, Mackenzi Hodge, Hunter Hodge, Conor Jeffords, Corbin Jeffords, Will Christopher, Allie Christopher, Izzabella Arrandato, Braxton Hodge Special Friend Ermal Basham of Marion Special Niece and Nephew Dale & Charlene Hodge of Goreville Preceded by his Parents, Wife, Two Brothers Everett Pete Hodge and Kenneth Hodge Funeral services will be Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 2 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Mike Ebert officiating. Burial will follow in Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Military honors will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
