Charles E. "Ted" Cox

Charles E. Ted Cox, 78, of Marion passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 9:20 P.M. at Herrin Hospital. Ted was born January 2, 1932 in Marion the son of Roscoe & Fern (McInturf) Cox. He married Linda Lee Hamlett on April 6, 1951 in Marion and together they shared over 47 years of marriage until her death on December 21, 1998. He was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Crab Orchard Methodist Church; he was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodge. Ted retired as an Executive of the Fleet Department for the Chrysler Corporation. Ted leaves behind his loving family; Debbie & Dennis Fritz of Ft. Wayne, Indiana Valerie & Mark Schafka of Metamora, Michigan Cheryl & Michael Nardozzi of Howell, Michigan Tina & Carl Prince of Marion April Malone of Pittsburg Dwayne Crain of Pittsburg Christy & Dale Crain of Paulton Eleven Grandchildren Three Great Grandchildren Preceded by his Parents, Wife, Sister Jean Hamlett Funeral services will be Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Leukemia Foundation.
