Charles F. Newsom

Herrin - Charles F. Newsom, 67, died at 6:20 a. m. on Friday, October l9, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Newsom was born January 6, l934 in Cambria, IL to Henry Aby and Thelma (Snyder) Newsom. He married Marceline Robinson July 7, l956 in Carterville. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1995. He married Patsy Hodder February l2, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. He was a field representative for Health Care Service Corporation in Chicago. He was a member of the Herrin Elks Lodge. He served as a Paratrooper with the U. S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. He loved golfing. Survivors include: His wife: Patsy Newsom - Herrin Sister - Bonnie J. Curlee - Joliet, IL Sister - Joyce Woodward - Denham Springs, LA Sister - Doris Newsom - West Frankfort, IL Several nieces and nephews Sister In Law-Louise Newson-Milton, FL. Brother In Law-Julius "Poncho" Bione-Herrin His parents, first wife, two brothers, Abe Newsom and Edward Newsom and one sister, Mary Lou Bione preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Sister Dorothy Cook officiating. Burial with Military Rites by the Herrin American Legion & VFW Posts will be at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. Visitation will be Saturday, October 20, 2001 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Elks Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of SI and will be accepted at the funeral home.
