Herrin- Charles Jack “Charlie” Pike, age 89, of Slidell, LA, formerly of Herrin, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his home in Slidell, LA.
Charles was born in Rosiclair, IL on August 23, 1926, the son of John and Eva (Cooper) Pike.
Mr. Pike was a newspaper pressman, working seventeen years for the Southern Illinoisan Newspaper, and also with the Phoenix Gazette and Arizona Republic newspapers.
He was a proud United States Army Air Force Veteran having served during World War II. Charlie was a member of the American Legion for more than sixty years.

Son and daughter-in-law- Scott and Judie Pike of Carbondale
Son- Keith Pike of Herrin
Grandson- Cody Pike of Carbondale
Granddaughter- Jamie Goggin Pike of Carbondale
Great Grandson- Gavin Stevens of St. Louis
Sister- Stella Calhoun of Herrin
Sister- Marie Randolph of West Frankfort
He will also be dearly missed by his many close friends in Slidell, LA
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- George Pike, and two sisters- Juanita Stipes and Freida Griffith.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herrin’s VFW and American Legion Posts. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
