Christy Lynn (Ruppel) Grob

Carbondale- CHRISTY LYNN (RUPPEL) GROB, age 51, of Carbondale, passed away at 8:40pm on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Saint Louis University Hospital. Christy was born in Carbondale on December 12, 1959, the daughter of Bill and Marilyn (Mattews) Ruppel. She married Dale Grob on August 20, 1997 at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas. He survives in Carbondale. Mrs. Grob was of Catholic faith. She graduated from SIU with a degree in law enforcement. Christy was also a registered assistant pharmacist working at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. She worked at the Carbondale Clinic for ten various doctors as a medical evaluation technician and presently was working at the SIU Health Center. Christy was a Dallas football fan corresponding with Tom Landry. She was active in numerous organizations including the Girl Scouts, 4-H, The Special Olympics, Herrinfesta, Cub Scouts, the Herrin Mayors Thanksgiving Dinner, and the Southern Illinois Horseman Association, in which she won several trophies and ribbons showing quarter horses and appaloosas. She also assisted with the blood pressure checks at the mall and the athletic check ups. Survivors include her husband- Dale Grob of Carbondale, IL; her Mother- Marilyn Ruppel of Herrin, IL; her Brother- Steve Ruppel and his wife Debbie and their children Zack and Kelly; and her Brother- Scott Ruppel and his wife Teanna and their children Irelin and Mali. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Ruppel. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Father Pat Reynolds will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11am on Saturday at the funeral home.
