Energy- Clarence E. Ward, 70, of Energy, died at 4:00 AM, Friday, June 18, 2004 at his home with his family.
Clarence was born on August 10, 1933 in Herrin to James Clarence & Edith Odessa (Sellars) Ward. He married Sarah Loretta Kinley on March 29, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Mr.. Ward was a retired Illinois State Trooper having worked from 1965 until his retirement in 1989. He also worked as director of security at Illinois Centre Mall in Marion from 1991 until 2000. He formerly worked at South Side Lumber in Herrin during the early 50s.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Marion and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #41.

He was preceded in death by his father, one son; Kevin D. Ward, sister; Barbara Dye, & two brothers; Russell & Robert Ward.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 21, 2004 at the First Apostolic Church in Marion. Rev. R.G. Walls will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Sunday, June 20, 2004 also at the First Apostolic Church in Marion. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
