Marion Cleatus V. Simpson, 87, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Cleatus was born January 28, 1917 to Adolphus and India (Barnwell) Simpson in Marion. Cleatus was the last of eleven (11) brothers and sisters. He married Alberta Racine on March 17, 1990 in Murphysboro and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2003. Cleatus was a retired machinist, having worked for National Screw Company in L.A. He had a brokers license in California, he was a member of BPOE #800 and 1st Church of God. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law Richard Allen & Margo Simpson of Mohave Valley, AZ Daughter-in-law Karen Simpson of Bullhead, AZ Nine (9) Grandchildren Twenty two (22) Great-Grandchildren Preceded by: Parents, Wife, and Son Robert Lee Simpson, Brothers Joseph, Otis, Hershel and Sisters Lelia, Mary, Clara, Nellie, Lillie, Wilma and Virginia. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. David W. Worley and Pastor Michael Ebert officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
