Herrin- Cleo (King) (McNeill) Duncan, 94, of Herrin, passed away at 7:24 PM, Monday, January 24, 2011 at her home of 62 years surrounded by her family.
Cleo was born on August 28, 1916 in Herrin to Frank & Helen (Smith) King. She married Harry McNeil on May 31, 1934 and had two sons. She married Bill Duncan on July 16, 1961 in Marion. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1999.
Cleo graduated from Herrin High School. She was a longtime member of Herrin First Baptist Church where she worked with the youth and served as secretary of their department. She sang in the First Baptist Adult Choir and was choir music librarian.
She had many hobbies and interests that she did until her eyesight started to fail, including bowling which she continued to do until age 91 on the Grandmas Team. She loved to sew for herself and others, especially her grandchildren. Cleo loved gardening and was known for her wonderful violets that she would proudly show off. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for over 25 years, a member of Royal Neighbors of America and delivered Meals on Wheels. Her favorite thing to do was to be with her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her many friends, the caregivers from Theres No Place Like Home and the nurses of Hospice of Southern Illinois that have been so special to her and a special thank you to Shelly and Jan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters- Juanita Gualdoni and Virginia Young and daughter in law- Libby McNeil.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 28, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Mark Hutson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
