Connie A. Maxey

Herrin- Connie A. Maxey, 47, of Herrin, passed away at 10:40 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2011 at St. Louis University Hospital. Connie was born on December 1, 1963 in Herrin to Don and Barbara (Murray) Nickens. She married John Maxey on September 24, 1983 at Hurricane Memorial Baptist Church in Herrin. He survives of Herrin. Connie was a homemaker and a member of Hurricane Memorial Baptist Church. In her spare time she volunteered at West Side School and the new elementary school in Herrin. She had a quick wit, was a wonderful daughter, loving wife and understanding mother. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Survivors include- Husband- John Maxey of Herrin Daughter- Brittany Raynor and husband Derek of Herrin One grandchild on the way Son- Dustin Maxey of Herrin Father- Don Nickens of Freeman Spur Brother- Mark Hall of Fair Chance, VA Nephew- Jaylen Nickens of Herrin who called her Aunt Sisser Several aunts, uncles and cousins She was preceded in death by her mother, daughter- Jayme Maxey, brother- Don Nickens and maternal and paternal grandparents. The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 15, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
