Carbondale-Connie Curry, 88, passed away Monday, March 15, 2004 at Rapides Regional Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana. Connie was born March 15, 1916 at Alto Pass, Illinois to John & Dora (Williams) Emery. She married Sherman Curry on August 28, 1937 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1991. She was retired having worked at the Good Luck Glove Factory and IGA Grocery Store both in Carbondale. She was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in Makanda, Illinois. Survivors Include: Daughter & Son In Law: Myrna L. & Carroll Gates of Pineville, LA. Two Grandsons: Charles Robert Harper & wife Michelle of Nixa, MO. Douglas Wayne Gates of Hattiesburg, MS. Two Great Grandchildren: Nathan Charles Harper of Nixa, MO. Morgan Brittany Harper of Nixa, MO. Brother & Sister In Law: John & Gale Emery of Marion, IL. Sister In Laws: Jane Emery of Carbondale, IL Juanita Emery of Cobden, IL. Sybil Emery of Carbondale, IL. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Donna Curry, six brothers, Leo, Coy, Gene, Wilbur, Ernest & Glen Emery; three sisters, Clorine Johnson, Clide Glasford and Vera Smith. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 18, 2004 at Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville with Pastor Samuel Foskey officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Thursday morning. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church in Makanda. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
