Curtis Smith

Herrin - Curtis Lynn Smith, 81, died at 1:53 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2002 at Herrin Hospital. Mr. Smith was born November 28, 1920 in Makanda, IL to Curtis and Leta Ann Kelley Smith. He married Wilma Galbraith April 29, 1950 in Oceola, Arkanas, She died April 29, 1999. He was a farmer in the Cobden area and a machine operator for Railoc Silo Company in Plainfield, IL. He was a member of Herrin First United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion . He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served in the South Pacific Theater. Survivors include: Brother and sister in law - Joseph Hayes and Ann Smith - Bensenville, IL Sister - Una Lee Juvers - Carterville, IL Sister - Mildred Juanita Davis - Herrin Several nieces, nephews and cousins His parents, wife, infant daughter Glenda Smith and one sister, Hattie Mae Smith preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Lee Lovett will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church in Herin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
