Daniel Shelby

Herrin- DANIEL A. SHELBY, age 65, of Herrin, passed away at his home at 10:05am on Monday, October 31, 2011. Daniel was born in Sikeston, MO on December 8, 1945, the son of Frank and Margaret (Mifflin) Shelby. Mr. Shelby had retired from his custodial positions at the Herrin American Legion and the West Frankfort Elks, where he was a member, as well as a member of the Marion Eagles. He was very active in the boy scouts organization. Daniel was a United States Army Veteran. Survivors include his five children- John Shelby of Buckner; Kevin Shelby of West Frankfort; Will Shelby of Johnston City; Robin Dunning of Marion; and Jason Dunning of Warrenton, MO; and fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife- Carol Shelby. Mr. Shelby will be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with memorial arrangements.
