Darrell G. Helsley

Herrin- DARRELL G. HELSLEY, age 69, of Herrin, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. Darrell was born on February 2, 1940 in West Frankfort, IL, the son of Walter and Lula Belle (Todd) Helsley. He married Jessie Brandon in Herrin on February 2, 1980. She survives in Herrin. Darrell was a member of Southern Illinois Worship Center and Alcoholics Anonymous. He was the owner of Helsley Pool Service, which he operated for more than 40 years. Survivors include his wife- Jessie Helsley of Herrin, IL Daughter- Dirrindia and Dan Garska of Michigan Son- Darrell Dwayne and Amy Helsley of Michigan Daughter- Lynn and Brian Winslow of Jackson, MO Daughter- Connie Eldridge of Charleston, IL Son- Dennis Capps of Herrin, IL Three brothers- Charles and Judy Helsley of DuQuoin, IL Don and Nancy Helsley of Johnston City, IL Hubert Wayne and Ann of Indiana Sister- Barbara Lund of Montana Many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters- Connie Melvin, Christine Steltzer, and Mary Jane Severs, and niece- Amanda (Helsley) Tope. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Southern Illinois Worship Center in Herrin with Rev. Jason McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Cundiff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Southern Illinois Worship Center.
