Daryl Lyn Melvin

Daryl Lyn Melvin, 65, of Marion died on Thursday February 1st 2024.

Daryl was born September 26, 1958 in Marion IL to Don and Reva Melvin.

He graduated from Marion high school 1976, he was a graduate of John A. Logan and SIUC. He was a Coal Miner at Old Ben Coal Co #25 for 15 years, and an auxiliary deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff department for five years.

Daryl was a Coal Miner at heart, he loved his days in the mines and would tell stories for days and days to whoever would listen. He loved his trade and often said if he had a "parachute" he would jump right down there again!

Jerime and wife Tracey Melvin of Thompsonville, IL.

Justin Melvin and Fiancée Brianna Mason of Hurst, IL.

Jennifer and husband Dustin Jackson of Paducah, Ky.

11 Grandchildren:

Daven, McKenzie, Austin, Cooper, Dustin, Delaney, Madison, Maci, Paisley, Paxton, Charlee and Landon.

Preceded in death by his Parents, Brother David Melvin, sister in law Lois Melvin, Infant niece Rachael Louise Melvin.

In honor of his wishes, only private services will be held. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
