Marion – Date McNeill, Jr., 83, of Green Cove Springs, Florida formerly of Marion, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 3:25 P.M. at the Haven Hospice Center in Orange Park, Florida.
Date was born January 26, 1930 in Williamson County the son of Date and Minnie (Corzine) McNeill, Sr. He married the love of his life, Marie Schuchardt on May 7, 1955 in Marion. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage; she preceded him in death on March 11, 2011.
He proudly answered the call to serve his country during the Korean War. Date retired from General Telephone, where he had worked for over 43 years. Following his retirement he worked for Campbell’s Harley Davidson. He was a member of Marion First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.
Survivors include; Daughter – Melba Frick and husband John of Fleming Island, Florida; Daughter – Linda Campbell of Green Cove Springs, Florida; Grandchild – Jason Campbell and wife Neily of St. John’s, Florida; Grandchild – Mark Frick and wife Cindy of Middleburg, Florida; Grandchild – Kendra Kozelek and husband Brian of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Seven Great Grandchildren; Sister – JoAnn McNeill of Marion. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife – Marie McNeill, Brothers – Brooks McNeill and Clyde McNeill.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11 A.M at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
