Marion- David Eton Thompson, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 10 A.M. at the VA Medical Center.
David was born June 23, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of the late Albert and Hazel (Walcott) Thompson, brother of A. Lance Thompson and wife, Joyce, of Vancouver, Washington and sisters Hazel A. Hilliard and husband Larry of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Gay S. McDonald of LaJolla, California. He was preceded in death by his sister, Faith C. Lardner and husband, Norman, his brother, Phillip B. Thompson and his wife, Sherry.
After 2 years in the U.S. Army, David spent much of his life in California where he worked in the aircraft industry as a designer at McDonald Douglas (now part of Boeing) and later studied nursing. In 2001, David moved to Marion with his brother, Phillip and his family. Originally he was cared for by his sister-in-law, Sherry Thompson, but most recently by his nephew, Gary Thompson. Surviving relatives in Marion are Gary, his nephew, Gregory Thompson and his wife Kim, and nieces Katelyn and Abbelyn.
David will be remembered as a gentle man and a thoughtful, loving brother and uncle.
Services will be private and his ashes will be interred near his parents in Forest Lawn Cemetery, North Hollywood, California. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family.
