David Marshall Packard, age 84, of Desoto, Missouri, formerly of Southern Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Baisch Skilled Nursing Facility in Desoto, Missouri.
David was born May 03, 1937 in Worden, Illinois, a son of Marlin and Grace Elizabeth (Moore) Packard. He married Catherine Marie Kandlbinder on May 18, 1989 in Hickman, Kentucky. Together, they have shared more than 34 years of marriage. She survives.
Mr. Packard was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Prior to his retirement, David had worked as a professor at John A. Logan College. He was an avid world traveler, of which he enjoyed very much.
He is survived by his spouse Catherine Marie Packard of Desoto, MO; three children, Margaret Diana (Paul) Annable, David Marshall (Beth) Packard II, and Marci Desire (Joe) McClellan; one brother, Thomas Alan (Pat) Packard; and his Step-Daughter, Marinda Marie Williams (Phillip Fox), Step-Son, Robert Theron (Joni) Roland, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. As well as his mother-in-law, Theola Kandlbinder, 5 sister- in- laws, 4 brother-in-laws, and several neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Packard, and father-in-law Arnold Kandlbinder.
Private visitation and memorial services will be held at a later date. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
