Herrin- David Wasson Hindman, 63, of Herrin, passed away at 9:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2006 at home.
Dave was born March 2, 1942 in Herrin to Tom & Margaret (Wasson) Hindman. He married Sharon Sherry Hunsaker on March 27, 1964 in Hurst.
David received his Bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University and his Masters from the University of Illinois. He was awarded a Superintendents Endorsement from SIU. He taught Junior High Science & Math at Hurst-Bush and then worked for the State of Illinois Election Board. After serving as Assistant Regional Superintendent for Williamson County, he was elected as Superintendent and served two terms. Next, he was hired as Superintendent of Herrin Unit #4 Schools, where he was instrumental in building the Herrin Elementary School, Herrin High School, and making improvements district wide. After his retirement in 2001, he worked as Assistant Regional Superintendent in Jackson County and was appointed to the financial board of the Cairo School District.
Mr. Hindman was a member of the First Christian Church in Herrin. He was also a member of the Herrin Elks Club, Herrin Civic Center Board, Chairman of the Special Education Board, Illinois Education Association, National Education Association, Egyptian Antique Auto Club, and the EAA Aviation Club.

He was preceded in death by his father & father in law; Glenn Hunsaker.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Ron Henwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the funeral home.
