Dawn Rita Hopkins

Herrin- Dawn Rita Hopkins, age 71, of Herrin, passed away at 8:30pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Dawn was born in Hinkly, Illinois on January 24, 1942, the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Hage) McKirgan. She married Roger Hopkins in Aurora on March 11, 1967. He survives in Herrin.  Mrs. Hopkins was a retired sales representative and homemaker.  Survivors include her husband- Roger Hopkins of Herrin Three sons- Brent and Kim Hopkins of Simi Valley, CA      Brad Hopkins of Tacoma, WA      Brandon Dean and Vanessa Hopkins of Herrin Three grandchildren- Tru Hopkins of Mt.Vernon      Braden Hopkins of Simi Valley, CA      Katelyn Dawn Hopkins of Simi Valley, CA Step-Grandson- Spencer Jackson of Herrin Two brothers- Dwayne and Sherry McKirgan of Oswego      Danny and Joanne McKirgan of Iowa Sister- Diane Gordon of Urbana Several nieces and nephews  She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Brian Hopkins, granddaughter- Alexis Hopkins, and brother- Dale McKirgan.  Memorial services celebrating Dawn’s life will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with eulogies given by her loving family.  A time of visitation will be held from 11am until the time of services at the funeral home on Wednesday.  For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.  For more information, or to sign the memorial guest register, please visit www.hughesfuneralhomes.com
