Lyle Dean Newell, 66, of the Lake of Egypt, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 7:05 pm at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Dean was born October 6, 1951 in Carbondale. He was the son of Robert Earl and Bonnie (Tanner) Johns. His father Paul Newell was killed in a farming accident when Dean was two. He married his soulmate Patricia “Patty” Boester on July 23, 1971 and together they have shared 47 years of marriage.
He was in business over 25 years, owner of Satellites and More and MyCrete Engraving. Dean was of the Christian faith, attending the Oasis Community Church of the Nazarene and the United Methodist Church in Creal Springs. He loved to fish and spend time on the lake. He was happiest when spending time with his family, always there to cheer his grandchildren on in all their different sports.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 am at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
