Dean Newell

Lyle Dean Newell, 66, of the Lake of Egypt, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 7:05 pm at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Dean was born October 6, 1951 in Carbondale. He was the son of Robert Earl and Bonnie (Tanner) Johns. His father Paul Newell was killed in a farming accident when Dean was two.  He married his soulmate Patricia “Patty” Boester on July 23, 1971 and together they have shared 47 years of marriage. He was in business over 25 years, owner of Satellites and More and MyCrete Engraving. Dean was of the Christian faith, attending the Oasis Community Church of the Nazarene and the United Methodist Church in Creal Springs. He loved to fish and spend time on the lake.   He was happiest when spending time with his family, always there to cheer his grandchildren on in all their different sports. Survivors include his; Wife – Patricia “Patty” Newell of the Lake of Egypt Son – Sean Newell (Julie) of Johnston City Daughter – Amie Wece (Jason) of Marion Grandchildren; Caleb, Hope, Hallie and William Newell Coty Wece Nathan Wece Great grandchildren – Carsen and Kase Wece Mother – Bonnie Johns of Lake of Egypt Sister – Neica Allred (Chuck) of Lake of Egypt Brother – Bryan Johns (Shawn) of Ozark Brother – Chris Johns (Sherry) of Lake of Egypt Brother-in-law – Fred Boester (Brenda) of Marion Aunt - Anna Bryan of Marion Several nieces and nephews Preceded by his Father – Paul Newell, Dad – Robert Earl Johns, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law – August and Carmen Boester Funeral services will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 am at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Marion Ministerial Alliance.
