HERRIN - Delores Yvonne Casey (Aunt Doe), 91, of Herrin, passed away Saturday Dec. 22, 2012 at 6:48 AM in the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
She was born in Bush the ninth of eleven children to Aarron and Emma (Brewster) Fulgham on October 10, 1921. She married Andrew Jackson Casey in Greenville, SC on June 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1979.
She worked in the glove factory in Carbondale during WWII and later worked as a waitress and then became a beautician. She had her own beauty shops including one in Morocco while her husband was stationed there in the Air Force.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Teresa and five grandchildren, Tina R. Harris and Vonda Edwards both of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, three grandsons, Andrew J. Casey II of Tuscola, Michael Casey of Fort Myers, FL, and Jason Scott Bravo of Hurst. Six great grand children- Mathew Harris, Justin Harris, Andrea Casey, Jordon Casey, Peyton Casey, and Shelby Pierce and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her only child, Jackie Ray Casey, seven brothers, and three sisters, Everett, Alma, Orvel, Fred, Hershel, Evelyn, Carl, Herbert, Wanda, and Bill.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Duane Faulkenberry will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
