Dennis E. Davie

Herrin- Dennis E. Davie, 68, of Herrin, died at 11:41 AM, Sunday, July 27, 2008. Dennis was born on May 9, 1940 in Colp to Woodrow & Louise (Nava) Davie. He married Joyce Watkins on April 15, 1967 in Carterville. She survives of Herrin. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Orpak after working more than thirty seven years as a fork lift operator at their various warehouses in the area. He was catholic. Dennis was a member of the National Rifle Association and the local machinists union. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his friends in the evening swapping stories and telling tales on each other. Survivors include- Wife- Joyce Davie of Herrin Daughter & son in law- Gina & Rick Raney of Murphysboro Brother & sister in law- Charles & Susie Davie of Stiritz Brother & sister in law- Larry & Sharon Davie of Herrin Grand dog- Abbie Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins Many Close Friends He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Woodrow Davie and Sister- Brenda Smith. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Military rites will be performed outside the funeral home by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
