Marion- DENNIS LEE MARKS, age 61, of Marion, passed away at 3:47am on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at his home in Marion. Dennis was born on January 27, 1948 in Carbondale to Lloyd Harpo & Venita (Ward) Marks. On April 15, 1976he married Patricia Cutrell and together had three children- Angela, Damion & Billy. On February 22, 199 he married Donna Stearns. She survives of Marion. Dennis served his country honorable during the Vietnam War while enlisted in the US Army. He served overseas and was an Army combat veteran. He was retired from Aramark Uniforms. Dennis was an accomplished outdoorsman and marksman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Ney-A-Ti Lodge of the Order of The Arrow. He was an excellent artist and craftsman. He was Baptist. Survivors include- Wife- Donna Marks of Marion Mother- Venita Marks of Marion Six Children: Matt Brewer of Michigan Angela Davis & husband Michael of Marion Damion Marks & wife Christel of Herrin Justin Stearns of Carbondale William Billy Marks & wife Jennifer of Marion Burke Stearns of OFallon, IL Sixteen Grandchildren: Danielle, Amber, Tyler, Kolton & Dalton Hunter Davis, Hunter Storie, Mikey & Haylee AJ, Brendan, Trevor, Jackson & Christin Peyton, Carson & Briar Uncle- Bob Marks & wife Mary He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Larry Lee will officiate. A time of gathering will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or Boy Scouts of America and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St/ Marion, IL 62959.
