Derek Massengill

Herrin- DEREK MASSENGILL, age 23 of Herrin, passed away at 2:30pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Herrin Hospital. Derek was born on July 13, 1983 in Herrin, the son of Mary (Corder) Street and Joel Lynn Massengill. Derek loved to spend time with his daughter, Faith Ann. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and grilling out with his friends. Survivors include- Mother- Mary Street of Herrin, IL Daughter- Faith Ann Massengill of Herrin, IL Brother- Brandon Massengill of Herrin, IL Paternal Grandparents- Lois and Jim Stacey of Herrin, IL Paternal Great Grandmother- Mildred Duty of Cobden, IL Five Uncles-Rodney Jarvis and partner Nathan Grimes of Nashville, TN Allen and Kim Massengill of Centralia, IL Mike and Bertha Teeling- West Frankfort, IL John Corder of Herrin, IL Berney and Margaret Corder of Herrin, IL Close friend and mother of his daughter- Rashanna Gentry of Herrin, IL Several cousins Many special friends Derek was preceded in death by his father- Joel Lynn Massengill and his Maternal Grandparents- Elmer and Anne Corder. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery.
