Dick Taylor

Herrin- John Richard Dick Taylor, 72, of Herrin, passed away at 5:30 PM, Friday, May 18, 2007 at Herrin Hospital. Dick was born on July 23, 1934 in West Frankfort to Richard Jacob & Grace A. (Odum) Taylor. He married Betty June Cunningham on Christmas Eve 1953 in West Frankfort. She preceded him in death on New Years Day 2001. Mr. Taylor owned and operated Taylor TV Repair out of his home in Herrin for many years prior to his retirement. Dick was a member of Hope Chapel United Methodist Church in Colp and attended whenever he was able. He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time with friends and family at the family cabin in Johnson County. He hunted turkey, squirrels and deer actively until just recently. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include: Son- Rick Taylor of Sesser Son & daughter in law- Kevin & Susan Taylor of Herrin Grandchildren- Megan & Samantha Taylor of Herrin Many close friends Beagle dog- Chance Cats- Misty & Golden He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and Beagle dog George. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Lori Tockstein will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, May 21, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Animal Rescue and will be accepted at the funeral home.
