Dixie Lee Brown

Herrin- Dixie Lee Brown, age 82, of Herrin, passed away at 12:15am on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her home in Herrin with her loving family at her side.  Dixie was born in Freeman Spur on October 30, 1931, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Hogue) McPherson. She married George Brown in Herrin on May 8, 1953. He survives in Herrin.  Before her retirement, Mrs. Brown had worked as an accountant for Sangamo Electric Company. She also previously worked for Allen Industries.  She is survived by her husband- George Brown of Herrin and her son-Lowell Brown and Kelly Pool of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister- Naomi McPherson.  As per her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be no visitation or ceremony. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.  The family wishes to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois for their excellent service.
