Don Claunch

Herrin- EDWIN DONALD DON CLAUNCH, age 75, of Herrin, passed away at 4:40pm on Monday, January 16, 2012 at his home in Herrin. Edwin was born in Cambria on December 1, 1936, the son of William and Opal (Harris) Claunch. He married the love of his life, Jessie Elaine Emery, in Corinth, Mississippi on December 4, 1955. Together, Don and Elaine shared fifty-six blessed years of marriage. Elaine survives in Herrin. Don was a member of the West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin. He retired as a nursing assistant at the VA Hospital. Setting a Christian example, Don lived as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, pappy, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping and has finally caught the one that always got away. Survivors include his wife- Elaine Claunch of Herrin, IL Daughter- Cindy and Steve Adams of Carterville, IL Son- Ed and Cindy Claunch of Glen Carbon, IL Son- Jim and Tracy Claunch of Salem, IL Daughter- Julie and Albert Bowen of Goreville, IL Son- Mike and Christina Claunch of Glenwood, Minnesota Eleven Grandchildren- Jason Adams; Karlee Holderfield; Jared and Grant Claunch; Lanelle and Taryn Claunch; Aaron, Caleb and Sarah Odum; Joshua and Christopher Claunch Great grandson- Nathaniel Holderfield Three sisters- Dorothy Russell of Cambria, IL Mildred Kilmer of Georgia Marilyn Sheppard of Cambria, IL He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother- William Eugene Claunch. As per Dons wishes, he will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life service at 2pm on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin with Brother Terry Griffith officiating.
