Don Micheal Nickens

Herrin- Don Micheal Nickens, 30, of Herrin, passed away peacefully at 7:28 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2007 at The Fountains Care Center in Marion. Don was born on August 21, 1976 in Herrin to Donald Donnie & Barbara (Murray) Nickens of Freeman Spur. He married Tanya Jo Hernbeck at Oakwoods Park in Herrin on July 22, 2000. She survives of Herrin. Mr. Nickens worked as an RN at the Fountains Care Center in Marion for many years. When he was able he enjoyed playing Madden Football on his X-Box and lifting weights at the gym with friends. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Cubs. He and Tanya most enjoyed riding their motorcycles and spending time together with their son Jaylen. Survivors include: Wife- Tanya Jo Nickens of Herrin Son- Jaylen Maliek Nickens of Herrin Parents- Donnie & Barbara Nickens of Freeman Spur Sister & brother in law- Connie & John Maxey of Herrin Brother- Mark Hall of Herrin Grandmother- Bernice Nickens of Herrin Niece- Brittany Maxey of Herrin Nephew- Dustin Maxey of Herrin Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many close friends Best friend and brother from another mother- Jeff Gusta of Herrin His maternal grandparents, Eugene & Lizzie Murray, preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 20, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson & Rev. Robert Jilek will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the Nickens Family Trust and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St./ Herrin, IL 62948.
