Marion Don V. Pearce, 67, passed away on December 4, 2005 at 8:30 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Don was born January 27, 1938 to Walter & Haskell (Reagan) Hunter in Marion. He married JoAnn Elliott on October 15, 1958 in Fairfield, CA and together they have shared over 47 years of marriage. Don proudly served his country for 21 years 8 months in the Air Force. He retired in 1977 with the rank of Master Sgt.; he received 6 Air Medals, 3 AF Accommodations, numerous other war medals during the Vietnam era. He later worked for Old Ben 25 Coal Company. Don was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1301 of Marion, having served as Post Commander. Don always felt privileged to be a part of the Ritual Team. He was of the Baptist Faith. Don was a member of UMWA and GWRRA. He enjoyed camping outings with his family and touring the country on his Goldwing motorcycle in later years. Don is survived by: Wife JoAnn Pearce of Marion Mother Haskell Hunter of Marion Two Sons; Walter Pearce and wife Mary of Vacaville, CA Steven Pearce of Rincon, GA One Daughter Donna Nichols and husband Darrell of Ellsinore, MO Ten Grandchildren; Sam, Charlotte, Cindy and Sean Pearce of Vacaville, CA Brandon and Katelynn Pearce of Rincon, GA Dustin and Dylan Nichols of Ellsinore, MO Alan and Danielle Mondus of Lakeville, MN Nephew Kenneth Hilliard and wife Helen of Tuscon, AZ Nieces; Debbie Clanahan and husband Eddie of Johnson City Cindy Gibbons and husband Pearl of Marion Cousin Mary Ida Jackson of Marion And also several other nieces, nephews and cousins Preceded by Father, Daughter Christine Mondus, Two Sisters Charlotte Hilliard and Janet Coats A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 11:30 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be given to The ALS Association or American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
