Donald Clyde Stonum

Hurst- DONALD CLYDE STONUM, age 77, of Hurst, passed away at 9:10am on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Donald was born in Hurst on April 12, 1929, the son of Clyde and Wilma (Halleran) Stonum. He married Gladys Pena on August 28, 1967 in Mexico. They renewed their marriage vows in the United States on June 10, 1968 in Murphysboro, IL. Together they have shared 39 years of marriage. Donald was a US Marine Veteran having been wounded during the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Stonum of Hurst and his dear friend, Ronald Bowden of Hurst. Donald was preceded in death by his parents. As per Donalds wishes, his body will be donated to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. There will be no services. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is handling arrangements.
