Donald R. Canter

Marion- DONALD R. CANTER, age 79, of Marion, passed away at 6:01pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his home in Marion. Donald was born in Chicago on August 7, 1929, the son of Leonard and Loretta Canter. He married Mary Dodson in Wheaton, IL on December 27, 1985. She survives in Marion. Donalds working career was with United Airlines, where he retired after forty-five years of service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife- Mary (Dodson) Canter of Marion, IL Three sons- Donald Canter of Chicago, IL Michael Canter and wife Jackie of Chicago, IL Edward Ladonsky and wife Candice of North Aurora, IL Daughter- Carol Mocaby and companion Derik McInturff of Creal Springs, IL Sister- Barbara Van Huse of Arizona Four Granddaughters- Lauren, Nicole, Brittney, and Jaelyn Two Grandsons- Edward and Kaden One great grandson- Thomas Lee He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Billy and Leonard, and two sisters- Shirley and Patty. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr Joseph for nineteen years of excellent care. Also to the staff at Parkway Manor for their care and going out of their way to see that he was made happy. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Wicoff officiating. Burial will follow at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.
