Donald R. Tanner

Donald R. Donnie Tanner, 60, of Marion, passed away at 5:31 PM, Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Donnie was born on January 28, 1948 in McClure, IL to Herman & Eulah (Reams) Tanner. He worked as a security guard for many years at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Marion. Mr. Tanner was a Baptist and former song leader at Indian Camp Baptist Church in the Poordoo area. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and spending time with friends. Survivors include- Daughter- Gayla Tanner of Carbondale Grandchild- Trinity Shay Tanner of Carbondale Sister- Louise Burton of Johnston City Sister- Jean Burns of Mt. Vernon Half Brother- Robert Benz of Herrin Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Shorty Alsip will officiate. Burial will follow at Tanner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the funeral home.
