Marion- DONNA RAE TURNER, age 65, of Marion, passed away at 7:45pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at her home in Marion.
Donna was born in Herrin on June 3, 1944, the daughter of Rev. Marion R. and Margaret Nell (Stone) Farmer. She married Jim Turner in Mount Vernon on August 19, 1967. They shared forty-two years of marriage. He survives in Marion.
Mrs. Turner was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also sang with Xaris, a Christian singing group. Donna belonged to the Breast Cancer Support Group of Southern Illinois. She loved the outdoors, singing, and playing the piano. She adored animals, especially horses, cats, dogs, and birds. Donna truly loved people and was at her finest when dressed in all white-as a Registered Nurse.After graduating from Barnes School of Nursing in 1965, she worked in various hospitals including St. Louis Maternity, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Herrin Hospital, Marion Memorial, and Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Son- Matthew Turner of the United States Virgin Islands
Mother- Margaret Farmer of Bonnie, IL
Brother- Danny Rae Farmer of Bonnie, IL
Numerous nieces and nephews in Southern IL, Oklahoma and Texas
She was preceded in death by her son- Bruce James Turner, her father- Rev. Marion R. Farmer, her brother- Dr. Terry Ryan Farmer, and her sister- Janet Kay Woodward.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion with Rev. James Sloan and Rev. Tim Ozment officiating. Burial will follow at Cundiff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
