Bush- Doris E. Candy Lady Holland, 83, of Bush, passed away at 12:28 PM, Friday, October 27, 2006 at Herrin Hospital.
Doris was born on October 6, 1923 to Doss & Maggie (Wilkes) Pinkston. She married her husband of 65 years, James Earl Holland, at 12:15 PM on December 6, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He survives of Bush.
Mrs. Holland worked at Allen Industries in Herrin for 10 years. She opened Dotties Beauty Shop at her home in Bush in 1968. Dotties was a full service beauty salon. Not only would she cut and style hair, but feed, console and listen to the many clients she had throughout the years.
Doris was a Christian and attended Jubilee Tabernacle Church in Desoto. She knew the scriptures well and shared her convictions with others often. She taught Sunday school for many years at Creek Nation, Bush Pentecostal & the Marion Church of God. She was musically inclined and enjoyed singing and playing the piano, organ and guitar at various churches in the area.
She volunteered her time helping those in need and served many years as an election judge and the city treasurer in Bush. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing for whatever was biting with her husband. She was a member of the Crab Orchard Boat & Yacht Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Danny Norman will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, October 30, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
