Doris Evelyn Collins

Herrin- Doris Evelyn Collins, 81 of Herrin passed away at 10:52 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home. Doris was born on January 31, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Mr. and Mrs. James Wernke. She married James O. Collins on August 18, 1956 in Energy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2011. She worked as a CNA at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home. She was a member of the Harvest Time Worship Center in Herrin.  She liked to spend her free time vacationing with family and visiting with friends.  She also liked to watch her afternoon "stories" on television. She had a very deep love for each of her grandchildren. Survivors include- Two Sons- Steve Collins of San Diego, California and James Collins and his companion Sahra of Herrin, Illinois. Daughter- Debbie Collins and fiance Robert Tippy, Jr.  of Herrin, Illinois Three grandchildren Six great grandchildren Two Sisters- Jo Ann Elders of Nashville, Illinois and Joyce K. Wernke of Tucson, Arizona She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Vivian.   Private entombment will be on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Herrin City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
