Doris Lee (Payne) Hill

Herrin- Doris Lee (Payne) Hill, age 79, of Herrin, passed away at 12:12am on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Doris was born in Williamson County on December 5, 1935, the daughter of Dan and Daisy (Tripplet) Payne. Before her retirement, she had worked at Norge on the washer line and as a nurse’s aide at Herrin Hospital.  Doris enjoyed camping and fishing for bluegill, crappie, and bass at Devil’s Kitchen. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed sharing humorous family anecdotes with them. Survivors include- Son and daughter-in-law- Shane and Jennifer Chaney of Herrin Four Grandchildren- Kaylee and husband Drew Pettit of DeSoto Taylor, Ashlee, and Elianna Chaney of Herrin Brother- William and wife Ruth Payne of DeKalb Sister- Imogene Fries of Wooster, Ohio Numerous Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
