Johnston City- Doris Mae Dodie Brewer-Webb, 75, of Johnston City, formerly of Marion, passed away at 8:19 AM, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at her home. Dodie was born on May 1, 1935 at her family home in Marion to Fay Forrest & Vernia (Taylor) Kent. She met John Webb and they have shared thirty seven wonderful years together. Dodie was a homemaker who cared for her family. She formerly worked as the secretary for the Boy Scout Lodge in Herrin and was breakfast host at the Hampton Inn in Marion. She was Baptist and formerly attended Lake Creek Baptist Church. She loved to travel and shop. She was currently planning a trip out east to see her sisters family. She enjoyed craftwork like floral arranging, home dcor, quilting and playing cards with her friends and family, but most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family will miss the wonderful meals she prepared and the family gatherings at her home. Her life was one of compassion and forgiveness. She believed in God and looked to the Lord daily. She left this life with peace in her heart. Survivors include- Husband- John Webb of Johnston City Son- Tim Brewer and wife Pam of Lake of Egypt Son- Bob Brewer and wife Donna of Lake of Egypt Son- Keith Brewer and wife Debbie of Marion Son- Kevin Brewer of Marion Daughter- Rachel Webb of Johnston City Daughter- Michelle Webb of Johnston City Thirteen Grandchildren: Josh Brewer and wife Kylie of Carbondale Jeremy Brewer of Marion Talina Brewer of Creal Springs Bobbi Jo Ray & husband Jason of Marion Christina Brewer, Sarah Brewer and Billy Brewer of Marion Ryan OConnor & wife Jennifer of Harrisburg Aimee Swan & husband Noah of Herrin Amy Kirby & Clay Kirby of Johnston City E.J. Thompson & Delaney Thompson of Johnston City Ten Great Grandchildren Brother- Charles Fay Kent & wife Shirley of Mt. Vernon Sister- Katherine Sue Donelson & husband Carl Dink of St. Louis, MO Numerous nieces and nephews and close friends She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter- Theresa Ann Kirby and eight brothers and sisters, including- Alfreda Kent, Jackie Kent, Clyde Kent, William Paul Kent, Dorcas Ann Moore, Vita June Emery, Dorothy Fehr and Forrest Kent. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
