Marion Dorothy J. Cox, 81,formerally of Carbondale, died Monday, August 23, 2004 at 4:40 A.M. at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home. Dorothy was born May 02, 1923 to George Almond and Julie (Proctor) Cox in Marion. Dorothy was a Professor of Library Sciences at Southern Illinois University. She was a graduate of SIU, a member of SIU Emeritus Assn., Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Beta Phi Mu Retirees, SIU Alumni Assn., and ISEA. She was a Baptist. Survivors include: Niece Marsha Rebecca of Marion, Two Great Nephews: Tim Bailey and wife Dawn of Stonefort, Todd Bailey and wife Wendi of Vienna, Two Great Great Nieces: Taci Bailey, Taryn Bailey, Two Great Great Nephews: Trey Bailey, Tanner Bailey. Preceded by: Parents, Brother Marvin Cox, Niece Jennifer Gail Bearden. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 25 at 11:00 A.M. in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
