Herrin- Douglas Richmond Linton, age 65, of Herrin, passed away at 5:11am on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Herrin Hospital.
Doug was born in Herrin on December 14, 1950, the son of Dwayne and Margaret Ruth (Richmond) Linton. He married Phyllis E. Keeling in Paducah on July 10, 1985. They shared thirty years of marriage. She survives in Herrin.
Doug’s three passions were music, aeronautics and his grandson Max. He began his music career at the young age of thirteen and was playing professionally within a year. Soon he was in recording sessions with the Egyptian Combo and was on several nationally released records as well as appearances on television and radio shows. Doug performed and traveled with several bands over the years including Prana and Gun Runner. His last group was The Band 64 which had only performed once this past October. Doug’s love of flying came from his father, Dwayne Linton, who was an avid flyer and was a decorated Royal Canadian Air Force spitfire pilot in WWII. In the past few years Doug’s life was full of fishing, model cars and computer games with his grandson, Max. His life was full but ended much too soon – he will be missed by his many friends and family.
