Dr. Kevin Jay Holmes, 55, of Marion, passed away due to a coronary event at 1:20 PM, Friday, August 8, 2014 at his home in Marion.
Kevin was born on August 18, 1958 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon to Charles Lavern and Virginia L. “Jenny” (Sims) Holmes. He was raised by his step-father- Charles “Jack” Dunn. He graduated from Marion High School in 1976 and Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO in 1987.
He owned and operated Holmes Chiropractic in Marion where he held several certifications, including acupuncture and advanced treatment for spinal injury due to whiplash. He formerly worked as an x-ray technician at Marion Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Rotary Club as well as several professional organizations. Kevin was Baptist.
In his spare time he enjoyed travelling to New Orleans and listening to classic rock like Aerosmith, Kiss and Eric Clapton. He worked out at Gold’s Gym in Marion. He enjoyed bodybuilding and met and had several pictures taken with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was a skilled chess player and had a special place in his heart for dogs and animals. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Tim Ozment will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. A time of gathering and remembrance will begin at 11:00 AM and extend until time of service, Tuesday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
