Herrin- Dr. William G. Patterson, 66, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Herrin, died at 6:42 PM (EST), Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Southwest Regional Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL.
William was born on May 12, 1935 in Johnston City to William R. & Fleeta (Sanders) Patterson. He married Mary Ann Overturf on June 24, 1956 in Christopher. She survives of Ft. Myers.
Mr. Patterson attended Southern Illinois University- Carbondale from 1953-1955. Next he attended National College of Chiropractic in Chicago and received his degree in 1959.
He owned and operated Patterson Chiropractic Clinics in Herrin and West Frankfort from 1961-1998.
Dr. Patterson was an avid golfer and was a member of Fiddlesticks Country Club in Ft. Myers, a longtime member of the Franklin County Country Club and an associate member of Kokopelli Country Club in Marion. Dr. Patterson was quite active in community organizations having been past president of Herrin Rotary, Past Exalted Ruler of the Herrin Elks, past member of Herrin JC's, and Herrin Prairie's Lodge #693 AF & AM. His professional memberships include being a lifetime member and past officer of the Illinois Chiropractic Association, past president of Southern Illinois Chiropractic Association.

He will be dearly missed by his many friends, associates, and patients he has had through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; LaCleeta Richmond, and one brother; Hershel U. Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A time of gathering will be from 12 Noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
