Dr. William R. Skelton

Marion Dr. William R. Skelton, 74, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 3:13 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Dr. Skelton was born May 17, 1933 in Butler, Alabama the son of William E. & Bessie (Wallace) Skelton. He married Bercha Moore on June 14, 1953 in Pocahatus, Arkansas and together they have shared over 54 years of marriage. She survives in Marion. Dr. Skelton retired from Choate Mental Health Hospital where he was a Clinical Psychologist. He was an Air Force Veteran. Following retirement, Dr. Skelton worked part-time at Comprehensive Services, Inc. in Mt. Vernon. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family camping, golfing and cheering on his grandchildren (their biggest fan). He also found time to pilot his motor home to several destinations; run, walk and bike, and relax listening to blues and jazz music. In addition to his wife, Bercha he is survived by: Son Rickey Skelton and wife Debbie of Herrin Daughter Linda Thompson of Summerset, Kentucky Son Michael Skelton and wife Denise of McKinney, Texas Four grandchildren; Amy Doss and husband Mark of Marion Chuck Foster and wife Nicole of Panama City, Florida Michael Skelton of McKinney, Texas Andrew Skelton of McKinney, Texas Six great grandchildren; Jonathan Wagner of Marion Elijah Doss of Marion River Doss of Marion Camden Doss of Marion Chase Foster of Panama City, Florida Hannah Grace Foster of Panama City, Florida Brother Buford Skelton and wife Stella of Louisiana Sister Dorothy Martin and husband Bill of Fort Payne, Alabama Several nieces & nephews Preceded by Parents, Daughter Janet Lee Skelton Funeral services will be Monday, January 7, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Buford Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
